Rachael Josephine Evans, 98, of Vandalia, died at 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Vandalia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Vandalia.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, with the Rev. James Howie officiating. Friends and family gathered at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro for procession to the cemetery. There was no visitation. Memorials: Donor’s choice.

The council’s personnel and finance committee met in closed session with police and telecommunicator union representatives, then approved some employment moves after returning to open session.

Mrs. Stilt was born on May 10, 1944, in Seminary Township, Fayette County, the daughter of Ernest Edward and Hazel Helen Voris Eller. She married Frederick J. Stilt on April 27, 1968; he died on Jan. 10, 2011.

Mr. Jarrett was born on May 19, 1940, in Vandalia, the son of the Rev. Charles and Doris Hunter Jarrett. He married Betty Jo “Jody” Kenser on May 20, 1966.
