Charles ‘Charlie’ Sumner Jr., 48, Vandalia

Charles “Charlie” Sumner Jr., 48, of Vandalia, died at 3:38 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at BJC Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Louis Frick officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Sumner was born on Jan. 24, 1963, in Belleville, the son of Charles Sr. and Audrey Schulze Sumner.

He is survived by a sister, Marsha Jenkins of Vandalia; nieces, Rebecca and her husband Luis Frausto, and Christina Jenkins; and caregivers, Charlie’s Angels.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
