Leroy M. “Bud” Taylor, 81, Vandalia
Leroy M. “Bud” Taylor, 81, of Vandalia, died at 8:25 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Relias Bonne Eau in Edwardsville.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at First Baptist Church in Vandalia, with the Revs. Joe Lawson and Robert Weaver officiating. Burial will be in McInturff Cemetery in Hagarstown, with military rites accorded graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: First Baptist Church Building Fund or Relias Bonne Eau at Southern Illinois Hospice.
Mr. Taylor was born on April 2, 1930, in Lisle Township, the son of Forrest E. and Louise M. Siebert Taylor. He married Mary Ann Petersen on March 28, 1951, at First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
He worked in building construction and contracting, and served with the Navy Seabees. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vandalia, serving on the Board of Directors and the Building committee; was a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia; and served as a trustee of McInturff Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Brad Taylor and his wife Jean of Belleville, and Brian Taylor and his wife Belinda of Urbana; daughter, Linda and her husband Ron Richter of St. Peters, Mo.; brother, Edward “Ed” Taylor and his wife Donna of Vandalia; sisters, Marilyn Baumann of Vandalia and Sue Carter of Mt. Sterling; and grandchildren, Sean Taylor and his wife Tina of Afton, Mo., Amie Richter of O’Fallon, Mo., Nathan Richter of St. Peters, Mo., and Maggie Taylor and Rose Taylor, both of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan Taylor; and sister, Janice Barnes.
