It becomes a reality

While many of us were already taking as many precautions as possible in light of the spread of coronavirus, others saw this as something being overblown by the state and national media.
Once a coronavirus case was detected here late last week, the mood changed. Now, it becomes more of a reality – we really do have to self-contain and take other measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
We have pointed out at the start that anyone who is sick should stay home. Those who believe they may be infected and need treatment are asked to first call their primary physician; the doctor will tell you what to do.
If you are sick, things you can do to prevent the spread of your illness include:
1. Stay home, except to get medical care.
2. Separate yourself from others in your home.
3. Wear a facemask.
4. Cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue and discard.
5. Clean your hands often for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.
6. Avoid sharing any personal household items.
7. Clean all high-touched surfaces frequently.
Now that we have at least one case in the county, sheltering at home is even more important.
And for those who do run out to buy necessary staples, we offer the reminder not to hoard items. By now, we should be able to go to the store and buy just about anything we could before the spread of the virus.
Unfortunately, that's not the case. Bare shelves are still a common sight. While protecting ourselves, we should remember that others need that same protection.
