Kudos to wrestlers for yet another good season

It wasn't the ending that they wanted and had worked so hard for during the past four months, but Vandalia's wrestlers have nothing to hang their heads about.
The loss to Tolono Unity in the IHSA Sectional on Tuesday snapped the Vandals' streak of appearances in the state finals at 10, but the wrestlers continued the program's tradition of being one of the top teams in the state.
This year's squad recorded the most dual team wins in a season, with 32, and there were many individual and team accomplishments along the way.
As Vandals coach Jason Clay said after the loss on Tuesday, it doesn't feel good right now, but the wrestlers and their coaches can eventually reflect on what was another exciting season for them, their fans and the community.
And, he said, they will always have the relationships that were established through hours and hours of hard work in the practice room and the competitions in their matches.
The VCHS wrestling program has put Vandalia on the map in Illinois high school sports, and this year's team helped to remind other programs throughout the state that it is one of the best.
We applaud the wrestlers and their coaches for another stellar season.
