Enjoy the beauty of the Statehouse
The Vandalia Statehouse is a beautiful building. Each year, its classic lines and authentic appointments transport thousands of tourists back to the 1830s when the building served as the seat of Illinois government.
But when the Statehouse is dressed in its holiday finery, it’s absolutely gorgeous.
This Saturday, from 5-8 p.m., area residents will have the opportunity to see the structure at its best during the annual Christmas open house. The historic building will be illuminated with more than 200 candles, and tours will be given by guides dressed in period clothing. They’ll even serve you cookies and hot cider.
If you haven’t seen the Statehouse by candlelight, don’t miss this opportunity.
