School record falls at last regular-season meet
Another Vandalia boys track record fell, as the 4X200-meter relay team set a new mark at Hillsboro last Thursday.
Senior Quenten Austin, junior Wade Cowger, sophomore Colton Woolsey and junior Ryan Ambuehl teamed up to place second in the race in 1:37.84, beating the previous record, which was set in 2009, by 1.5 seconds.
Austin and Ambuehl now are part of all four relay records at VCHS.
Ambuehl, Austin and Codie Jackson also had individual first-place finishes to help the Vandals place second out of three teams.
Vandalia returns to the track on Friday for the Lawrenceville Sectional meet, where it is hoped that several athletes will qualify for the state meet.
The sectional begins at 4:30 p.m.
