Vandal golf team off to state this weekend

The third place sectional and first place golf regional team, the Vandalia Vandals, will be heading to the state tournament this weekend in Bloomington, seeking a state title. From left are regional champions Dylan Halford (2nd place), Jonah Beesley (14th place), Chase Laack (1st place), Conner McCall (12th place), Jacob Schaal (9th place). Laack was also the sectional champion.
The Vandalia Boy’s Golf Team qualified for the State Finals in Bloomington this weekend by finishing in third place at the McLeansboro sectional. Oblong was the sectional champion with a 320. St. Anthony and Vandalia finished tied with a 321 but St. Anthony was awarded second and Vandalia 3rd by the tiebreaker.
Chase Laack was the individual sectional champion with a one over par 72. Conner McCall was the 6th place medal winner with a six over par 77. Jonah Beesley and Dylan Halford each shot an 86. Jacob Schaal had a 93. Vandalia will now compete at the State Golf tournament at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington this weekend.

Regional
The Vandalia Boy’s Golf Team won the Alton Marquette Regional at Spencer T Olin Golf Course on Wednesday, September 29. Vandalia won 1st place with a score of 320. Alton Marquette was 2nd with a 337. Father McGivney was 3rd with a 345. The top three teams advance to the sectional tournament. Vandalia had two golfers earn medals by finishing in the top five. Chase Laack was the medalist with an even par 72. Dylan Halford took the 2nd place medal with a four over par 76. Jacob Schaal finished 9th with an 85. Conner McCall was 12th with an 87. Jonah Beesley was 14th with an 88. Vandalia will now play in the McLeansboro Sectional at Green Hills Golf Course near Mt. Vernon.
