Vandals fall to Pana, Greenville in conference ballgames
The Vandalia baseball team was unable to end its losing streak, falling in two conference games in the past week.
The Vandals fell at Pana last Wednesday, 7-5, and dropped a road game at Greenville on Tuesday, 8-0.
Vandalia has lost 11 games in a row and is now 6-14 (2-6 South Central Conference) for the season.
Against Pana, senior Dathan Berning had a pair of doubles, but the Panthers scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and maintained control throughout the rest of the game.
Senior Nick Metzger also had a double in the game, and senior Trevor Montgomery and junior Dalton Wehrle each drove home a run.
Montgomery took the loss, striking out six.
Stats from the Greenville game were not reported by press time.
