Junior high track teams have success in first meet
Two school records were set in the first meet on Vandalia's all-weather track on Monday
The seventh-grade girls 4X100-meter relay team of Emma Meyer, Madeline Cade, Anna Miller and Jensen
Hollinshead placed first in 57.5 seconds to set a new school mark, and seventh-grader Curtis Gordon cleared 8 feet in the pole vault to break a record.
By the end of the day, three of the four Vandalia teams had won, with the seventh-grade boys defeating Litchfield, 79-31; the eighth-grade boys winning, 85-22; and the eighth-grade girls winning, 58-38. The seventh-grade girls lost, 60-40.
Seventh-grader Justin Evans won the first official race on the track, the 110-meter hurdles, and a total of 18 individuals won events for Vandalia.
The Jr. Vandals traveled to St. Anthony on Wednesday, and will host Pana in the next meet on April 17.
