Kenneth L. “Kenny” Evans, 70, of Vandalia, died at 10:12 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at his home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour before services on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials: The family.

Mr. Evans was born on May 28, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Royce and Madeline Causey Evans Blake.

Eleanor L. Mattes, 88, of Vandalia, died on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia.

Stephen J. Stine, 61, of Vandalia, died on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, in rural Vandalia.

Velma L. Ervin, 83, of Vandalia, died at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011.

A private family burial will be at a later date in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ervin was born on Oct. 22, 1928, in Centralia, the daughter of Orville and Freda Robison Blades. She married Dr. Mark Ervin in Vandalia; he died on March 19, 2001.

She is survived by a son, Alan B. Ervin of Vernon.

Helen V. Walker, 89, of Vandalia, died at 11 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Helia Healthcare in Greenville.

Graveside services were held at 11:45 a.m. on Monday at Mt. Moriah Cemeter in Coffeen, with the Rev. Dave Trover officiating. Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: The family.

Mrs. Walker was born on Aug. 10, 1922, in VanBurensburg, the daughter of George and Iva Stewart Roemelin. She married Donald Walker on Oct. 6, 1946.
