Mafalda Jean Devall, 77, of Vandalia, died at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Mulberry Grove United Methodist Church in Mulberry Grove, with Bob Chase officiating. Burial was in Noffsinger Cemetery in Smithboro. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Young Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Mulberry Grove United Methodist Church. Grace D. Etcheson, 93, of Vandalia, died at 8:57 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at her home.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Donor’s choice.

Mrs. Etcheson was born on July 20, 1918, in Mulberry Grove, the daughter of William “Bill” and Bertha Jett Durr. She married Jesse Etcheson on June 4, 1942, in Quartside, Ariz.; he died on July 13, 2000.

Nelda J. Kistler, 64, of Vandalia, died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.

Bettie K. Davis, 82, of Vandalia, died at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at her home.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial was in South Hill Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation was held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Effingham County Hospice.
