Swofford, Vandals win SCC golf meet; Leiken places 2nd as individual

Vandalia junior Blake Swofford shot a 2-under-par 70 to place first and help lead the Vandals to the team title at the South Central Conference boys golf tournament on Monday.

The Vandals combined for a 318 at The Rail Golf Course in Springfield to beat Hillsboro by five strokes.

Seniors Derrick Herkeer (77) and Josh Lawson (81) were also named all-conference.

On Tuesday, junior RaChelle Leiken competed as an individual and finished second at the girls conference meet, with an 84. The winning score was a 79.

Last Friday, she competed at a meet in Effingham and placed second, with a 42.
