Atwood
The 73rd reunion of the descendants of Thomas C & Mary E Atwood was held on Saturday, June 30.
Due to the high heat, Doris Elam had the family come to her home to enjoy the air conditioning.
Esther Cunningham gave the noon meal prayer. President Max Atwood, who led the group in the Lord’s Prayer, opened the business meeting.
The minutes of the last meeting was read with no corrections. The election of officers for 2019 is as follows: president, Jim Atwood; vice president, Charlotte Atwood and secretary/treasurer Connie Grubaugh.
One birth to record: Braxton Brooks, son of Kylie and Jonathan Brooks, grandson of Bryan Atwood and great-grandson of Max Atwood.
No weddings this past year were record.
One death to record was Lyle Elam, 90, husband of Doris (Wright) Elam on June 11, 2018.
Oldest present was Wanda King, and the youngest was Melody Freeman. Traveling the farthest was Tom and Connie Grubaugh, Mooresville, Ind.
It was noted to thank Doris Elam for the use of her home for the reunion.
The date of next year’s reunion is Saturday, June 29.
Max Atwood gave closing prayer. Cousins came from Decatur, St. Elmo, Danville, Roxana and Vandalia in Vandalia and Mooresville, Ind.

Elam
The 80th annual Elam family reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Mulberry Grove Community Building.
A potluck dinner will be held at noon. Those attending are to take a covered dish and their own table service.
