Golden Circle Menus
The Golden Circle Nutrition Program, located at 616 W. Jackson St., Vandalia provides meals in a comfortable setting to people 60 years and older and their spouses.
There are no income guidelines or any type of restrictions besides the age limit. Meals are prepared by Deb’s Catering of Altamont and delivered fresh daily.
The suggested donation is $3 for meals.
Call the site director, Deb Segrest, at 283-1040, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. the day before you wish to eat there. Meals are served at 11:30 a.m., Monday-Friday. All meals served with choice of milk, coffee, iced tea or water.
• Thursday, May 3 – Sweet and sour pork, rice, oriental veggies, vegetable egg roll and pineapple chunks. Author Georgia Evans will speak.
• Friday, May 4 – Barbecue riblet on bun, succotash, rosemary potatoes and angel food cake.
• Monday, May 7 – Fish on bun, broccoli rice casserole, baked beans and mandarin oranges with bananas.
• Tuesday, May 8 – Meatloaf, baked potato, succotash, blushing pears and whole grain roll. Harold Swofford will sing country music.
• Wednesday, May 9 – Broccoli cheese soup, crackers, 1/2 turkey sandwich on whole grain bread, apple cabbage slaw and fruit cocktail.
• Thursday, May 10 – Oven-baked chicken, sweet potatoes, peas and strawberries. Free blood pressure checks.
• Friday, May 11 – Chicken and dumplings, tossed salad w/tomatoes, California-blend veggies and cherry crisp. Kathy Grobengieser will speak about strokes.
