South Central H.S Volleyball
Sept. 3 at St. Elmo
The Lady Cougars defeated St. Elmo 26-24, 24-26, 25-22, last Thursday night to push their record to 2-0 on the season. Deidre Schaal led the way with 14 kills, while Emily Chapman contributed a team-high 20 assists.

Tuesday vs. Dietrich
The Lady Cougars defeated Dietrich, 20-25, 25-17, 25-19 Tuesday night. Leading the cougars was Deidre Schaal with a team-high 15 kills and 13 digs. Emily Chapman also contributed a team-high 22 assists. They are now 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.  

VCHS Freshman Football

Sept. 3 at Hillsboro
The VCHS freshman football team won it's first game of the season at Hillsboro, 30-8. The Vandals were led by Trevor Smalls, who ran for 90 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Blake Barth came down with an interception. Their next game will be Sept. 24 vs. Carlinville.

VCHS JV Football

Monday vs. Carlinville
The VCHS JV football team beat Carlinville, 26-14, Monday night improving its record to 2-0. Vandalia's Preston Ruckman scored two touchowns, one receiving and the other coming on an interception return. Riley Smock and Kolton Kaiser scored the other two touchdowns, a fumble recovery and rushing touchdown, respectively. They will try to keep their perfect record alive next Monday at Staunton.

VCHS Soccer

Sept. 3 at Effingham
The Vandall soccer squad could not continue its winning ways, falling to Effingham, 0-10, and bringing its record to 1-2 on the season. Josiah Yexley finished the match with 12 saves.

Monday vs. Centralia
The Vandals fell to Centralia, 0-12, pushing its record to 1-3. Josiah Yexley finished the game with 10 saves.

Tuesday at CORL
Vandalia's Boaz Haveman set a school record with six goals in a 9-4 win at Centralia Christ our Rock Lutheran Tuesday afternoon. Nic Wollerman also contributed two goals and two assists in the winning effort, improving the team's record to 2-3.
