Post 95 to play for Sr. Legion District Championship; Jr. Legion squad also wins

ROBINSON – Vandalia knocked off Olney 14-2 on Thursday evening to force a double-elimination championship game in the Sr. Legion District Tournament.

The teams will battle again on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Robinson City Park.

Quinn Wadkins and Austin Schwarm each homered for Post 95 on Thursday, supporting an eight-inning complete game by Matt Tomazzoli, who struck out six.

Vandalia scored twice in the first and three times in both the fourth and fifth innings to build a lead, and extended it with to runs in the seventh and three in the eighth.

Schwarm, Brett Mueller and Johnnie Clift each had three RBI for Vandalia (31-8).


At Teutopolis, Vandalia pulled off an upset in its opening game of the Jr. Legion District Tournament.

Post 95 knocked off second-seeded Altamont 5-2 to advance in the winner's bracket.

Vandalia, a No. 7 seed, will meet either Newton or Robinson on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., and will play again on Sunday with either a win or a loss.
