Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Omaha Storm Chasers

•May 18 – Patton, a South Central graduate, pitched an inning of relief during an 8-2 win at Memphis. The Kansas City Royals Triple-A prospect struck out two and walked one. On the season, he is 1-0, with a 0.92 earned-run average and six saves. He has struck out 23 batters in 19 2/3 innings over 14 appearances.
•May 9 – Patton pitched an inning of relief during a 10-6 win at Memphis.

Seth VonBehren • Coach • Maryville

•VonBehren, a Vandalia graduate, led the Maryville University baseball team to a 19-30 record in his second season as the team's head coach.
