Lady Eagles lead field for EIC Tourney

After capturing the regular-season championship for the first time since 2011, St. Elmo/Brownstown now will look to win the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament for the first time since then, too.

The Lady Eagles hold the No. 1 seed in this Saturday’s event, which will begin at 9 a.m. at Lions Park in Central City, but do not have an easy path to the championship.

SEB opens the tournament against either fourth-seeded Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick or No. 5 Christ Our Rock Lutheran.

BCCH nearly came from behind in SEB’s 12-11 win in the regular season, and the Lady Eagles handed CORL a 20-5 loss.

In the other championship semifinal, No. 2 Ramsey meets No. 3 Mulberry Grove. The Lady Rams were an 11-10 winner in the regular season.

SEB beat Mulberry Grove, 9-7, and Ramsey, 14-1, in the regular season.
