Mulberry Grove beats Okawville at Vandalia, but falls to Brownstown/St. Elmo
The Aces split games played at Vandalia last Saturday, defeating Okawville in game one, but losing to Brownstown/St. Elmo in game two.
Offense was easy to find, however, as Mulberry Grove beat Okawville 12-7, and lost to BSE, 20-10.
BSE senior Jacob Behrends had two home runs in the game, and Mulberry Grove junior Alex Goodin also homered.
There were just 17 hits, despite the 30 runs, as 16 errors were committed.
Also for the Bombers, senior Dalton Parks scored five runs without a hit, and junior Darke Hall and sophomore Malachi Maxey had doubles.
Freshman Michael Sloan had three doubles for Mulberry Grove, senior Nate Ketchem had two doubles and junior Derek Childress had one double.
Hall was the winning pitcher, striking out three over the final three innings.
Against Okawville, Childress, Noah Murray and Dalton Crisman each had multi-hit games, as the Aces scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to get back on top after leading early.
Goodin earned the win in relief.

Okawville’s coach watches as Mulberry Grove senior Nate Ketchem scores a run in the bottom of the sixth inning of last Saturday’s game.
