Garrison – 50 years

Robert and Ruth Ann Garrison of rural Vandalia will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 24.

Robert Garrison, son of the late Otha and Fern (Morris) Garrison, and Ruth Ann Arndt, the daughter of the late Carl and Violet (Elam) Arndt were married on April 24, 1964, at Free Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. S. Lindh Young officiating. Their attendants were Raymond and Ljean (Garrison) Rush.
The couple has four children: Angie and her husband David Dugan of Vandalia, Shannon and her husband Elvin Lay of Chatham, Robert Garrison and his wife Kristina of Vandalia, and Toni and her husband Pat Cocagne of Auburn.
They have seven grandchildren: Kyle and Abby Dugan, Lauren and Paige Lay, Karsyn Garrison, and Zoe and Jett Cocagne.
A come-and-go reception honoring the Garrisons on their anniversary will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, april 19, 2014, in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. All family members and friends are invited.
The couple requests, no gifts.
