The Next Level: Graduate athlete roundup (March 13)

Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Quenten Austin • Soph. • Carthage • Track

•March 7 – Austin, a Vandalia graduate, and the Carthage College men's track team ended the indoor season with the Gill Athletics Final Qualifier. Austin placed sixth in the pole vault (14 feet, 4 inches), sixth in the triple jump (40 feet, 8 1/4 inches) and eighth in the long jump (20 feet, 1/2 inches).

Jennifer Potts • Sophomore • Central Missouri • Bowling

•March 7-9 – Potts, a Mulberry Grove graduate, and the No; 5 University of Central Missouri women's bowling team placed seventh at the Music City Classic at Vanderbilt University.  She bowled two games individually, with a 181 and a 151, in the regular-season finale. The Jennies will now wait to see if they are one of the eight teams selected for the NCAA Tournament.
