Bryant F. Schneider

Bryant F. Schneider of Smithboro graduated from Army basic training with E Co., 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, at Ft. Jackson, S.C., on Oct. 31.

After graduation, he traveled to Ft. Lee, Va., where he was reassigned to A Co., 832nd Battalion, Ordinance Brigade, for further training.

Schneider is the son of Lisa and Warren Benson of Vandalia, and Gary Schneider of Smithboro. He is the grandson of Don Matthews of Smithboro and Norman Schneider of Greenville.

 

Kabe Smith

Private Kabe Smith of Vandalia graduated from Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego on Nov. 1.

Smith, 19, successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD San Diego in Training Platoon 3247.

After 12 days home on leave, he reported to Camp Pendleton for one month of military combat training, to be completed on Dec. 10.

He will then go to Military Occupation Specialty School for military police training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.

After completing that training, he will have four more years of service.
