Lady Vandals to travel to Litchfield tourney
The Lady Vandals will continue their season this Saturday and all through next week at the four-game Litchfield McDonald’s/Niehaus Cycle Round-Robin.
Included in the schedule are a pair of state-ranked teams.
Vandalia will kick off the tournament, with a 6 p.m. game against highly-ranked Class 1A school Nokomis on Saturday at Litchfield High School.
Next Monday, the Lady Vandals will take on Mt. Olive at 6 p.m.
Vandalia will then have some time off until next Friday and Saturday, when they meet Class 2A state-ranked Litchfield at about 7:45 p.m. on Friday and Carlinville at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Last season, the Lady Vandals were 2-2 in the event, and coach Michelle McNary said playing in the tournament will be a challenge for the team, especially after struggling to rebound in Tuesday’s season-opening loss to Altamont.
“If we don’t rebound better than this, we might not win a game (in Litchfield),” McNary said on Tuesday. “It’s not going to get any easier.”
