Strobel places second at SCC Championships

Vandalia junior Ben Strobel placed second at Monday's South Central Conference cross country championships, falling just two seconds short of the win.

Running as an individual, Strobel earned all-conference honors by finishing the race in 16:18.1. He was bested by rival Cory Landon of Carlinville, who finished the race in 16:16.

Strobel will continue his season on Saturday at the Robinson Regional, as he begins his journey toward a second straight appearance at the state meet.

Last season, he finished 78th, with a time of 16:15.
