Vandalia's eighth-grade girls basketball team took a 26-10 loss at Altamont on Tuesday.
Alli Palmer had six points, while Sydney Austin and Camryn Murphy each had two points.

Senior Brandy Protz finished in a tie for 10th this season at Cole County Dragway.
She raced in the Jr. Dragster division, and accumulated 26 points.

Sophomore Jalea Paslay placed ninth in a cross country meet at Litchfield last Tuesday, finishing in a personal-best time of 23:51.04.

BROWNSTOWN/ST. ELMO
The Bombers fell back to .500 with a 6-2 loss to Odin last Friday.
BSE (9-9), which split the fall series with Odin after winning 9-7 on Sept. 6, had just four hits in the game, the final tune-up for the National Trail Conference Tournament.
Freshman Landon Feezel (0-1) took the loss, with six strikeouts over six innings of work.

Patoka couldn’t get its 10th win the final game of the season last Wednesday.
The Warriors close the season at 9-5 after falling 4-2 in a makeup game against South Central.
Freshman Mark Herrin tossed a complete game, striking out five along the way, and Ryan Miller, Shane Cain and Trey Lowery each had a single for Patoka.

The Lady Rams couldn’t get past Patoka last Thursday in a 17-25, 16-25 loss.
Ramsey (1-9) was led by three aces by Sydney Lay and three kills by Paige Wilson and Abbi Cunningham in taking the second loss of the season to the Lady Warriors.

The Lady Eagles came just short in a tough loss to Altamont on Tuesday.
The first and third sets both went past the 25-point threshold, and Altamont held on to win the match 24-26, 25-15, 30-28.
Emily Bone had a career-high 12 kills for SEB (10-13, 3-5 NTC), and Gabi Moore and Bethany Oberlink each had six.
Erica Behl and Michaela Walk both had 14 assists.

Senior Courtney Howard came away with six kills, and sophomore Gabi Moore followed with five. Erica Behl had the only ace for the Lady Eagles (10-12, 3-4 NTC), and also led with eight assists.

South Central picked up its fourth straight win in volleyball on Tuesday, defeating Sandoval, 25-19, 25-9.
Maria Brasel had seven kills, and she was followed by Lincoln Brasel and Karrigan Smith, who each had six.
Emily Chapman had three aces and 15 assists to lead the team in both categories.

South Central (10-12, 3-4 NTC) was led by senior Lincoln Brasel, who had seven kills and three blocks, while junior Maria Brasel added four kills and four assists, and freshman Emily Chapman had 10 assists, two kills and an ace.
