Old Capitol Classic opens Tuesday
The junior high girls basketball season begins next Tuesday with the annual Old Capitol Classic in Vandalia.
Played at the junior high and elementary schools, both Vandalia’s seventh- and eighth-grade girls teams will be in action, along with two other area schools.
St. Elmo/Brownstown and Mulberry Grove are also in the field, as are Pocahontas, Greenville and Altamont.
The seventh-grade tournament will be held at the elementary school.
Vandalia and Mulberry Grove open play at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Jr. Lady Vandals play again at 8 p.m. against Pocahontas.
The eighth-grade tournament will be held at the junior high.
Vandalia and Pocahontas open play at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Jr. Lady Vandals then face Mulberry Grove at 8 p.m.
The event continues on Thursday, with both Mulberry Grove and St. Elmo/Brownstown in action, and championship games will be played on Friday.
