Anniversary

Fifty years ago, one day after his honorable discharge from the Marines Corps air base in Beaufort, S.C., Nick Alton met Diane Steiner at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Walterboro, S.C., for their Sept. 1 wedding ceremony at 2 p.m.

Diane’s sister, Susan, was her maid of honor, and George DeGeal, a Marine buddy, was Nick’s best man.
“Half and half” through life has been their motto, starting with their purchase of a marriage license – Nick and Diane each paid $1.
The Altons are the parents of two children – a son, Matthew Alton and his wife Janice, and their children, Camille and Zachery; and a daughter, Pamala and her husband Tom Carr, and their children, Barry and Nathan.
