Many athletes who spent their high school years in Fayette County have moved on to play for college or professional teams. Below are the athletes who recently made headlines.

Spencer Patton • Pitcher • Wilmington Blue Rocks

•July 19 – Patton, a South Central graduate, pitched 3 2/3 innings of relief during a 10-6 loss at Myrtle Beach. The Kansas City Royals prospect struck out three and allowed three runs (none earned) on five hits and two walks for the Class A Blue Rocks.
•July 15 – Patton pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief during an 8-1 loss to Lynchburg He struck out three and allowed two hits.

Tanner Bushue • Pitcher • Tri-City ValleyCats

•July 22 – Bushue, a South Central graduate, started and earned the victory in a 4-3 win against Hudson Valley. The Houston Astros prospect pitched five innings for the Class A Short-Season ValleyCats, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out two.
•July 17 – Bushue pitched four innings of relief during a 3-1 loss to Auburn. He struck out five, while allowing just one hit.

Logan Mahon • Pitcher • Gateway Grizzlies

•July 22 – Mahon, a St. Elmo graduate, pitched one inning of relief in a 6-1 win at Windy City. The independent Frontier League player allowed two hits and a walk.
