All teams 1-1 at Mulberry Grove Invite
Mulberry Grove, Greenville and Mater Dei each finished 1-1 at the Mulberry Grove softball invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Aces defeated Mater Dei, 11-5, and fell to Greenville, 10-9, in nine innings.
Mater Dei also beat Greenville at the event.
Against Mater Dei, the Lady Aces relied heavily on home runs, hitting two.
Kate Jolliff lifted a grand slam in the third inning, and Sam Goodin hit a three-run homer in the fourth.
All 11 runs were scored in those two innings.
Lauren Robison was 2-for-4, with a double and four RBI.
Becca Oldham, Kayla Zimmerman and Josie Koontz each added two hits for the Lady Aces.
Against Greenville, both teams found plenty of offense late in the extra-inning affair.
Oldham was 3-for-5 for the Lady Aces, and Breann Tompkins was 3-for-4.
The game was tied at four after seven innings, and each team piled on two more runs in the eighth.
Greenville went ahead, 10-6, in the top of the ninth, and Mulberry Grove's comeback in the bottom of the inning came up just short.
Three runs scored, but two runners were left in scoring position when the final out was made, leaving the Lady Aces with their first loss of the season.
