Two Brownstown girls make state in 3-point contest; two boys advance

Two Brownstown girls basketball players reached the state level in the 3-point showdown, but neither of them were able to advance to the finals.

Junior Danie Austin and sophomore Audriana Pruett shot with the best Class 1A girls sharpshooters in the state last Thursday, with Austin making one 3 and Pruett making seven. Nine makes were needed to make the finals.

The event took place at Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal.

On the boys side, two local players advanced out of the regional 3-point showdown.

South Central senior Rudy Hablewitz and Mulberry Grove junior Devonta Williamson each made seven 3-pointers last Friday at the Class 1A Woodlawn Regional to advance to the Altamont Sectional.

The top four shooters there will advance to the state showdown.
