Vandals get No. 2 seed for regionals; local teams will need upset wins

The Vandalia High School boys basketball team received the No. 2 seed in the Hillsboro Regional.

Teutopolis received the top seed, and Nos. 3-6 are Litchfield, St. Anthony, Greenville and Hillsboro.

Tournament play for Vandalia will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 8 p.m., against either Litchfield or Hillsboro.

Vandalia has defeated Litchfield twice this season, and was victorious in one game against the Hiltoppers.

For other local teams, they will need to pull some upsets to reach their title game.

At the St. Elmo Regional, the Eagles have earned the No. 4 seed behind Nokomis, Altamont and Cowden-Herrick.

Other teams there are Beecher City, Brownstown and Ramsey.

At the Woodlawn Regional, Patoka has earned the No. 3 seed, but is behind state-ranked Woodlawn and conference rival Christ Our Rock Lutheran. Other teams there are South Central, Odin, Mulberry Grove and Sandoval.
