Michael Wells propels Vandals to title game of VHT; will play Pana

Vandalia senior Michael Wells had 27 points and nine rebounds to lead the Vandals into the championship game of their own tournament with a 62-57 win against Maroa-Forsyth on Friday night to win Pool B.

That game will be played at about 8 p.m on Saturday, and is Vandalia's first title game appearance since 2005.

The Vandals have not won the tournament since 1981, and to do so will have to beat Pana, which beat Flora on Saturday night to win Pool A.

Altamont will play the loser of Flora for third place at about 6:30 p.m., and Maroa-Forsyth takes on St. Elmo for fifth at about 5 p.m.

In the seventh-place game, South Central will be challenged by Shelbyville at about 3:30 p.m., and in the ninth-place contest at 2 p.m., Greenville takes on St. Anthony.

8 p.m. Title game: Vandalia vs. Pana

6:30 p.m. Third-place game: Altamont vs. Flora

5 p.m. Fifth-place game: St. Elmo vs. Maroa-Fosyth

3:30 p.m. Seventh-place game: South Central vs. Shelbyville

2 p.m. Ninth-place game: Greenville vs. St. Anthony
