Lady Cougars drop first NTC game

The Lady Cougars lost their first-ever National Trail Conference game on Monday in a 50-14 win for conference favorite Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

Senior Macie Cain had a team-high six points for South Central (0-1, 0-1 NTC), while freshman Lauren Lotz had five rebounds.

Jenna Rose, a sophomore, added four points, and senior Taylor Keen and Lotz each had two points.

“Everybody played a lot of quality minutes,” said coach Gary Kapper. “With only nine girls on the team, we have not been able to experience what game intensity is (in practice).”

Micah Jones led CHBC (1-0, 1-0 NTC) with 24 points, including 10 of the Lady Hornets’ 22 first-quarter points.

South Central’s next game is on Thursday at North Clay.
