Vandals lose Ritchey, Runkel and the game to Greenville

Vandalia senior quarterback Tim Ritchey was taken from the game by ambulance, C.J. Runkel returned to the sidelines on crutches and the Vandals lost to Greenville, 28-12, on Friday night.

Ritchey, who was injured on a late hit from Greenville's Brandon Duncan for the second straight season, was flown out of Vandalia after the game, and reportedly suffered a T1 and T2 fracture and will be in a neck brace for the next two weeks.

Runkel was lost in the first half after suffering a knee injury, which is believed to be a torn ACL.

Lots of flags were thrown on both teams for personal fouls during the game, which the Vandals led 12-0.

Senior Ryan Ambuehl and Ritchey each scored on long touchdown runs, but Greenville got a pair of short fields in the second half that led to the deciding touchdowns.

The Vandals will find out on Saturday night who they will face in the playoffs.
