Lady Eagles champions of silver flight

The Lady Eagles went 3-2 at the National Trail Conference Tournament, but still earned fourth place as champions of the silver flight.

Senior Savannah Feezel had 58 kills during the tournament, which saw St. Elmo (22-8) beat Cowden-Herrick, 25-13, 25-20, and Brownstown, 25-21, 25-10, last Thursday; lose to South Central, 20-25, 25-19, 20-25, last Friday; and beat Neoga, 25-7, 25-10, and fall to Stew-Stras, 23-25, 25-18, 19-25, on Saturday.

Because Neoga went on to beat Stew-Stras, the Lady Eagles came away with the silver flight on tie=breaker criteria.

“We played well at times, but we let two games get away from us,” said coach Elise Asher. “Overall, we gave ourselves a chance to win by beating Neoga, and then they did us a favor.”
