Vandalia volleyball tournament is on Saturday
The 19th annual Vandalia Volleyball Tournament will be played on Saturday at the high school and junior high.
Vandalia, Carlyle, East Alton-Wood River and Brownstown will be in Pool A, with games at the high school, and South Central, Greenville, Lebanon and Beecher City will be in Pool B, with games at the junior high.
There is sure to be come exciting games during the event, with highlights likely to include Vandalia vs. Carlyle in the final game of Pool A play, and Greenville vs. South Central in the final game of Pool B play.
Greenville and South Central battled for third-place at the Altamont Tournament on Sept. 1, and the Lady Cougars came away with a 20-25, 25-13, 17-15 victory.
Also at Altamont, Vandalia and South Central had an exciting three-set match in pool, with the Lady Vandals winning, 26-28, 25-19, 17-15. The head coach of both teams said they would welcome a rematch in a place game this weekend.
“That’s (one of the few) times we get to play Vandalia, and there’s a good rivalry there,” said South Central coach Mary Brimberry. “It’s a good opportunity, and whatever is to be will be.”
Added Vandalia coach Allison Smith when asked if she would like a rematch, “Sure do.”

•11 a.m. – Carlyle vs. BHS
•12 p.m. – EAWR vs. BHS

•8 a.m. – SCHS vs. BCHS
•9 a.m. – GHS vs. Lebanon
•10 a.m. – SCHS vs. Lebanon
•11 a.m. – BCHS vs. GHS
•12 p.m. – Labanon vs. BCHS
•1 p.m. – Greenville vs. SCHS
•2 p.m. – Seventh-place game
•3 p.m. – Fifth-place game
