Graumenz signs to wrestle for Neosho County CC

Kyle Graumenz, a senior at Triad High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to wrestle for Neosho County Community College in Chaunte, Kan.

The grandson of Devon and Patty Graumenz of Shobonier placed fourth at 138 pounds in the Class 2A individual state tournament this past February. He was the state runner-up as a sophomore in the 119-pound bracket.

He qualified for the Illinois High School Association state tournament all four years of his high school career.

As a senior, he was named a high school All-American after finishing seventh at the 2012 High School Nationals in Virginia Beach.

In that tournament, Graumenz defeated a four-time state champion from Wisconsin, a three-time state champion from Connecticut and a Kansas state champion.

He closed his high school career with a 155-37 record, including 95 pins.

"This is a great addition to our team," said Neosho coach Wayne Patterson. "At Virginia Beach, I had the chance to observe his wrestling quite a bit, and I really liked what he brought to the mat, particularly in the late rounds and against guys we are familiar with.

"He also comes from a supportive family, and his values seem right on track."

Graumenz is the son of Kevin and Sonya Graumenz of St. Charles, Mo., and the grandson of Karen and the late Gary Elliott of Seymour.
