Vandalia 8th-graders move on while 7th-graders fall

The Vandalia eighth-grade volleyball team advanced in the Staunton Regional on Tuesday, beating East Alton-Wood River, 25-17, 25-11.

With the win, the Jr. Lady Vandals played again on Wednesday against Carlinville.

Top-seeded Vandalia was led by Leah Francis, who had two aces and two kills. Mindy Ritchey and Karlie Bright each added three aces.

Last Wednesday, the seventh-grade season came to a close in the second round of the regional tournament.
Carlinville played consistent defense throughout the match to help beat Vandalia, 15-25, 19-25.

Molly Kern led the way with nine service aces. She was the team's leading server for the season.

Madison Klanke, Emma Meyer and Carson Howard each recorded one ace and one kill.

Vandalia's record was 13-7.
