Vandalia eighth-grade girls 16-1, Patoka JH boys still perfect

Two local junior high basketball teams remain on good starts this season. The Vandalia eighth-grade girls lost their first game of the season on Tuesday against Hillsboro, 25-23. The loss moves the team’s record to 16-1. Tuesday, Nov. 8 vs. Hillsboro Hillsboro 25 Vandalia 23 Points: Karlie Bright, 10; Makayla Tinker, 6; Jalea Paslay, 4; Madelyn Hosick, 3. Thursday, Nov. 3 at Greenville Vandalia 26 Greenville 8 Points: Bright, 12; Tinker, 8; Hosick, 6. Tuesday, Nov. 1 vs. Litchfield Vandalia 32 Litchfield 5 Points: Tinker, 12; Bright, 9; Hosick, 6; Leah Francis, 5. Meanwhile, last Thursday the Patoka Junior High boys team beat Sandoval, 52-44, to move its record to 6-0. In that game, Shane and Jered Cain each had 16 points, Dylan Back had 13 points, and Garrett Belcher had seven points.
