St. Elmo falls in regional championship game; ends season with 21 wins
The St. Elmo High School volleyball team put up a challenge against Altamont in a Class 1A regional championship game last Thursday, but the Lady Indians were able to scrape out a win in three sets, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23.
The loss put the Lady Eagles' final record at 21-15 for the season, and the team achieved that mark without any senior starters.
Seniors Patricia Guerrero and Taylor Spain were both role players, and made key contributions throughout the season.
During the title match, Savannah Feezel and Katie Stites both led the team will 12 kills and three blocks.
Megan Maxey had two service aces, and Perry Manley had 25 assists.
Prior to the season, coach Elise Asher had said that she hoped the team would mature enough by the end of the season to contend for a regional championship, and by returning all her starters next season, it's likely that next season's goals will be even loftier.
