Myers returns; Lady Eagles sweep DH

Senior Morgan Myers returned to St. Elmo's lineup to help the school's softball team sweep a doubleheader against Beecher City last Thursday.

Myers played second base, but did not record a hit in the two games, her first since breaking her pinky finger on April 13.

Senior Courtney Calhoun hit a home run and had four RBI in the first game, a 10-3 St. Elmo win.

An eight-run second inning propelled the Lady Eagles, and sophomore Samantha Austin kept Beecher City at bay by allowing just six hits and three runs in five innings of work.

In game two, Calhoun and sophomore Megan Maxey combined to go 8-for-8 in helping St. Elmo to a 15-4 win. On the day, those two were a combined 13-for-13, with nine RBI and seven runs.

Senior Brooke Maxey, who was moved to the leadoff spot last Tuesday, was 2-for-4, with a home run and a triple.

In total, the Lady Eagles had 18 hits. They broke open the game in the fourth inning, with nine runs.
