Hebron – 50 Years

Lawrence and Patsy Hebron of Farina will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. this Saturday at the Farina United Methodist Church in Farina.
Lawrence Hebron and the former Patsy Wagoner were married on Jan. 8, 1961, at the Edgewood Methodist Church in Edgewood. Their attendants were Tom Hebron and Avanell Wagoner Schwengel.
He worked for Illinois Central Railroad for 10 years. They moved to Farina in 1968, when they purchased the Farina Western Store. Upon closing the store, Larry joined the Illinois State Police as a dispatcher, retiring in 2000 after 26 years. He was also a Farina volunteer ambulance driver and first responder for more than 10 years.
She worked for the University of Illinois, Farina Lumber and Rothe Chevrolet/John Deere dealer, retiring in 1988.
The couple are the parents of three children: Katrina and her husband Heinz Goerke of Mulheim, Germany; Larry and his wife Missy of Farina; and Christine Hebron of Effingham.
They have two granddaughters: Hannah Goerke and Kara Shimboff; two stepgrandchildren, Colton and Katie; two great-grandchildren: Ethan and Kaley; and two great-stepgrandchildren: Braden and Rebecca.
They were also “parents” to five exchange students: Aki (Japan), Luis (Brazil), Claudia (Columbia, S.A.), Roberto (Ecuador) and Sun Wook (South Korea), and four foster children:  Cheri, Cherry, and sisters Missey and Amanda.
