Thursday sports cancellations

The Vandalia High School girls basketball team and the Vandalia Junior High boys basketball teams will not play tonight. In addition, icy road conditions have given the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament another setback.

The girls game has been rescheduled for Friday night, with the JV game beginning at 5 p.m. in Pana. The Lady Vandals will host Altamont at 11 a.m. on Saturday as scheduled.

The junior high boys' games, also against Pana, have yet to be rescheduled.

The St. Elmo Holiday Tournament games for Thursday are canceled, the third delay of the tournament. The revised schedule is as follows:

6:15pm             Altamont  vs.  South Central/Brownstown winner
7:45pm             Beecher City  vs.  St. Elmo

Session 1:

11:30am            Mulberry Grove  vs.  Cowden-Herrick
Session 2:
3:30pm             7th place game (session 1 losers)
5:00pm             Consolation game (session 1 winners)
6:30pm             3rd place game
8:00pm             Championship game

On Tuesday, the game between Brownstown and South Central was postponed because of a power outage. That game was slated to conclude on Wednesday night, but was moved to Thursday because of the impending icy weather.
