Minus Heilig, Aces drop two EIC games

The Mulberry Grove  High School boys basketball played without senior Zach Heilig in two games last week.

Heilig suffered a concussion last Tuesday and missed a 70-40 loss to Christ Our Rock Lutheran last Friday, and a 50-40 loss to Patoka on Tuesday.

Heilig may play on Friday at Odin.

A poor second quarter from Mulberry Grove gave CORL all it needed to defeat the Aces last Friday.

Leading 14-12 after the first, CORL scored 21 points in the second period, while holding the Aces to four points to take a commanding, 35-16, halftime lead.

Senior Allen Tompkins scored 14 of his team-high 20 points in the second half.

The Aces fell in their second  Egyptian-Illini Conference battle on Tuesday, losing to Patoka, 50-40.
