South Central boys start with two games; Vets to be honored on Saturday

The South Central High School boys basketball team will open its season with back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.

The Cougars will host Odin – which just finished 4-0 in the Mulberry Grove Turkey Tournament – on Friday at 6:15 p.m.

On Saturday, South Central will travel to Flora for another 6:15 p.m. start. All veterans will receive free admission to that game and will be honored at halftime.

The Cougars are under the direction of first-year head coach Rick Simmons, who was a longtime assistant at South Central.

South Central returns several starters, including senior Taylor Cain, junior Colby Bushue and sophomore Fischer Tharp.

After two additional regular season games, South Central will play in both the St. Elmo and Vandalia Holiday tournaments.
