St. Elmo/Beecher to play for EIC title

St. Elmo and Beecher City will battle for the Egyptian Illini Conference baseball championship Thursday night in Vandalia at 7 p.m.

Patoka and Brownstown will play the third-place game in Vandalia at 4:30 p.m.

Luke Levitt threw a no-hitter for Beecher City, as they shut out Patoka 10-0 to advance to the championship game.

No. 3 St. Elmo 5
No. 2 Brownstown 3

Connor Beasley struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings to notch the win for St. Elmo as they advanced to the title game by defeating Brownstown 5-3 on Tuesday.

He aided his effort by going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Blaine Scholes was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Eagles.

Colton Hunter took the loss for Brownstown, pitching a complete game while striking out 10.

No. 5 Mulberry Grove 6
No. 6 Ramsey 5

Mulberry Grove won Tuesday's compensation game against Ramsey 6-5.

The Aces held a 4-1 advantage until the seventh inning, but Ramsey scored four runs in the top of the seventh.
Mulberry Grove answered back with two of their own in the bottom of the frame.

No. 4 Patoka 21
No. 5 Mulberry Grove 11

Patoka handled Mulberry Grove in the first game of the tournament, winning 21-11.

Johnnie Clift picked up the win for the Warriors, and Billy Nelson took the loss for the Aces.

No. 3 St. Elmo 15
No. 6 Ramsey 2

St. Elmo defeated Ramsey in a 17-2, five-inning rout on Monday.

Ben Sperry notched the win for the Eagles and also had a home run and three RBI at the plate. Connor Beasley added a home run for the Eagles as well.

Tyler Pryor took the loss for Ramsey.
