Greenville High School golf teams get seasons underway

The Greenville High School boys golf team began their season on Saturday at the St. Anthony Invitational hosted by Indian Springs Golf Course in Fillmore.
The Comets finished 12th out of 16 teams at the 18-hole event.
Effingham (St. Anthony) won the title by putting up a team score of 301.
Christian Swalley was the highest placer for the Comets. He finished in 29th place with an 86.
“Swalley did a great job coming in as a freshman,” said GHS coach Steve Dannaman.
Cohen Reavis was the next Comet finisher with a 103 to take 69th place.
William Mann and Caden Wayman both took 73rd with a 104.
Jack Workman fired a 105 good enough for the 76th spot with Austin Swalley shooting a 111.
Season preview
Dannaman indicated he has 18 boys out for golf this season along with five girls. That means GHS will be able to compete for team placing in both sports.
Upcoming Schedule
The boys played Monday at Raymond against the host school Lincolnwood along with Waverly, Mt. Olive, and Springfield (Lutheran). They hosted Trenton (Wesclin) yesterday. However, results for both matches were unavailable at press time.
GHS returns to action tomorrow against Lincolnwood and the co-op team from Ramsey-Nokomis at the Greenville Country Club.
Next Tuesday they are at Carlinville for a triangular with the host school and Piasa (Southwestern).
The girls played yesterday at Timber Lakes Golf Course in Staunton against the Bulldogs, Hillsboro, Pana, and Gillespie however results were unavailable at press time.
They are back in action tomorrow against Lincolnwood and Ramsey.
GHS will be back in action on Monday in Staunton against the host school along with Hillsboro, Pana, and Gillespie.
