Lady Vandals take three losses at Highland, but get to 20 wins

HIGHLAND – The Lady Vandals volleyball team won just two of their five games at this weekend's Highland Tournament, but now have 20 victories on the season. Senior RaeChelle Leiken was named to the all-tournament team.

Class 2A Vandalia played up at least one class in all but one game.

Defeating Class 3A Carbondale in three sets on Friday night gave Vandalia its 20th win of the season. The Lady Vandals then defeated Class 2A Wesclin on Saturday morning.

Also during the tournament, Vandalia lost to Class 4A O'Fallon on Friday, and Class 3A Breese Central and Class 3A Highland on Saturday.

Each match except the one against O'Fallon went three sets, and the stiff competition should help the Lady Vandals (21-4) once postseason competition begins.
