Smith – 63 years

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Smith of Vandalia will celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary this Sunday.

Allen Smith and Joyce Ellis were married on March 4, 1955, at First Baptist Church of Mulberry Grove, with the Rev. Bill Roberson officiating.
After Allen served in the armed forces, the couple made their home in Vandalia. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and is presently employed in Smitty’s Monument Letterin. Joyce worked for Dr. Hans Rollinger for 25 years.
The Smiths are the parents of two children: son, Stanley and his wife Julie of Olive Branch; and daughter, Vicky and her husband Gerald Largent of Vandalia.
They have three grandchildren: Sara Largent of Belleville, Heather and her husband John of California, and Tim Largent and his wife Tracee of Mt. Zion.
They also have six great-grandchildren: Macy, Nailah, Annly, Zailyn, Jase and Jenner.
The couple will be honored with a family dinner.
